So with my little Monster getting a pretty good collection of new dolls for her birthday. She has decided and convinced her Daddy that they need a house. So now on to our very first project in a very long time.
So to get started my husband built a frame of what will soon be a Monster High dollhouse. The house itself stands a little over 4 ft tall. We decided to keep the design simple and the decor and details will be a little more ellaborate.
I have yet to start painting but I have made a few furnishings. My goal with this project is to try to reuse and repurpose as much as I possibly can.
So my first project is a bed for Operetta. I started with a piece of thick plywood, a Ziploc bag box, black duck tape, a permanent marker and some white spray paint. I didn't take pictures of this whole process but it was really simple.
First, I drew out the design of the "headboard" and my hubby cut it out for me with his dremmel tool. I then painted it white waited for it to dry and added the spider web detail and crooked piano design with the permanent marker. Once it was completely dry I sprayed the "headboard" with a clear acrylic gloss coating.
While that was drying I wrapped the Ziploc box with the black duck tape. Once I was sure the headboard was completely dry, I attached the "headboard" to the box with hot glue. Then secured it with more black tape. That was it!
Viola! Cute new bed for Operetta!
Apparently Operetta likes it so much, she has decided to host a jam fest before her bedroom is even finished :)
Next a tv for the livingroom!
I found the tutorial here.
I will continue adding my projects and ideas until the house is complete. Please check back often for more updates.
